Final Reflection blog

                          Reflection Blog

From this experience we learned that appreciating nurses for their job makes them feel happy. My partner and I decided to go and give the nurses something at least one more time. We met our goal because we went and took the nurses fruit baskets and homemade cookies at least once. A lesson that I learned was that being grateful is always good. We chose this project because we were inspired by how much work the nurses do and how they help so many people. We find it incredible how people can forget to thank the nurses at times since. We are very thankful for this opportunity that we got.

Informational Blog Blog #4

                 INFORMATIONAL BLOG

For our capstone project we decided to show our appreciation for nurses. Since we are working with nurses we based our informational blogs on them. In this blog we will talk about different topics about nurses, such as their responsibilities, what degrees you can get to become a nurse and their salaries.

To become a nurse you must have an Associates degree in nursing (ADN), Bachelor's degree in science of nursing (BSN), or  a Master’s degree (MSN). Since there are certain degrees in the nursing field there will be different information on that study and the length of studies you have. In an Associate’s degree program, it takes about two years to complete. However, a bachelor's degree programs takes 4 years which is twice longer than an associate's degree.

A nurse has many responsibilities when working. A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and has met requirements to have a nursing license. One of their jobs is to take exams of people and to check the person’s health history. Nurses are also the people who make the patients feel comfortable when sick and give them full care when needed. They also aid the doctors in critical decisions for required actions. A nurse can give helpful advice about self care and dress wounds.

In the nursing field, there are many different types of nurses.  The highest paying nurse is the Registered nurse which earns about 68,164 dollars annually. This type of nurse assist in treating patients with injuries and medical conditions. Another type of nurse is the travel registered nurse who gets a salary of 64, 052 dollars annually. A travel registered nurse works temporary jobs nationally and internationally. However, there are nurses who work at a person’s home and their salary is 68,808 dollars a year. Their job is to take care of people who have medical conditions but choose to stay at home.

Moving on to salary, a registered nurse could earn about 67,490 dollars per year. In a hour, they earn about 33 dollars. In conclusion, nurses are important to our community because they do their best in curing patients and assist doctors.

Update Blog #2

                                      Update

How far have you gotten? Has your idea changed at all during the process? What obstacles have you encountered? Have you gotten all your materials? What are your next steps?
Our process has changed just a bit because we we're going to make the fruit baskets first but we decided to make the cookies first. So far we've gathered most of our materials. We have everything to make cookies and we found the baskets so we can make the nurses fruit baskets. We haven't bought the fruit since we're making the cookies first and we don't want the fruit to be bad by then. An obstacle that we faced was finding the time to go to the store to buy the ingredients since Gurleen's schedule doesn't alway match with mine. Our next step is to make the cookies and then call the Nurses department to ask when we can go. Once they give us the date we will ask my mom to take us.

Project Proposal #1

What is a Capstone Project????

A Capstone project is a project where you choose your project and it has to help yourself or the community. This project is also known are the 20% project. Some of our teachers give us time to work on them during their classes and we have to do weekly blogs about them. We can pick our own topic but it has to be something that helps you or the community.

Project proposal:

What is your Goal? How and why did you decide on this goal? How are you going to reach your goal?

Our goal is to show nurses that they are appreciated by giving them some treats. We decided to work on this goal because we found out that some nurses are not getting the appreciation for the things they do for patients. We are going to reach this goal by going to a grocery store and buy the different types of fruits and some baskets to go along with them. Once we have all the materials we will make the fruit baskets. This is what we'll do the first week and then we'll take something different every other week or every two weeks.  We will be taking these goodies to the nurses at the Santa Clara Medical Center.

Who are you thinking about to ask to be your mentor? What possible obstacles do you expect to face in your progress towards your goal and how to you plan to overcome these hurdles?

Our mentor for this project will be my mom because she is available most of the time and she knows some of the nurses that work at that hospital. An obstacle that we are probably going to face is having to buy all the things that we will be giving them. Since there are so many nurses we can't give them all something at the same time so we'll be taking them different things every time we go. Also we want to try to give every nurse at least one thing. So we will have to try to go on different days and at different times.
